This strange and unexplained phenomenon shocked the pilots of a Boeing 747-8 who were heading from Hong Kong to Alaska, as well as countless people who later saw the spectacular images captured by the two witnesses.

What was supposed to be a routine flight over the North Pacific Ocean turned into something really mysterious. Heading from Hong Kong to Nome, Alaska, Dutch pilot J.P.C. van Hejst and his co-pilot spotted the most bizarre flash of light over the horizon, ending into the ocean.

They were near the Russian peninsula of Kamchatka when this strange light similar to a lightning bolt appeared up in the distance, scaring them both. The unexplained light was directed vertically over a portion of water in the distance, intersecting with their flightpath.

There were no reports of thunderstorms on their route, so they knew the light did not originate from a storm or any other phenomenon from the atmosphere above.

The pilots first considered the hypothesis of a fishing boat fleet trying to catch squids using bright LED lights in order to attract them, even though they crossed this route before and experienced nothing more but water.

When they reached the place where the lightning occurred, the two men witnessed the most unique and unfamiliar event. Bright red lights were visible over a big area from underneath the Pacific Ocean.

Last night over the Pacific Ocean, somewhere South of the Russian peninsula Kamchatka I experienced the creepiest thing so far in my flying career – van Hejst said

The bright lights had different colors but a dominant red was visible more than the rest. The pilots couldn’t explain the cause, they only witnessed it and took as many photos as they could.

The closer we got, the more intense the glow became, illuminating the clouds and sky below us in a scary orange glow, in a part of the world where there was supposed to be nothing but water.

Pilot van Hejst and his colleague felt really uncomfortable while flying over that bizarre place because they could not understand what was happening and there were no other aircrafts nearby to check or confirm the sighting.

The only cause of this red glow that we could think of, was the explosion of a huge volcano just underneath the surface of the ocean, about 30 minutes before we overflew that exact position.

His supposition proved to be wrong as he was expecting to encounter an ash-plume as a result of the eruption, but nothing of this sort ever happened. They eventually landed safe in Nome, Alaska and gave a full report to the Air Traffic Control who promised a full investigation of the strange bright area the two pilots depicted.

As the authorities failed to give any reasonable explanation, theories involving the strange red lights have surfaced, claiming that an underwater alien base might exist near the Kamchatka Peninsula and that the red lights were actual USOs, surprised from a pure coincidence by the crew of the Boeing 747-8.

Considering this was not the ONLY case with unusual sightings that happened on the same Hong Kong – Nome, Alaska route, and that more witnesses depicted underwater alien-like encounters, also submerging crafts not far from this place, backed up by some NASA photos showing similarities, we tend to believe that this recent sighting had more to do with extraterrestrials rather than natural phenomenon.

Unfortunately, we cannot efficiently explore this underwater world, most of it remaining undisclosed and full of mysteries, which is why a lot of room is left for speculations about submerging crafts and beings living undisturbed underneath the oceans.
